The Salesforce Buffet Opens

In an interesting press release today, Salesforce announced the opening of a Salesforce.com all you can eat buffet. First to be seated at the table is Dell, in a new deal which supersedes all previous agreements.

It’s a deal where, for a flat fee, Dell can use as much of Salesforce as it cares to through 2011. Unlimited users, unlimited objects, unlimited storage, etc. I’m guessing this is the first deal of its kind in the SaaS world. Imagine what you could do without limits. I’m kind of drooling right now.Now seating

It will be interesting to see who else signs up for this kind of deal. While there’s a huge price to be paid for this kind of buffet, somebody is obviously doing the math at Dell and has the ROI. They said it’s the biggest deal Salesforce has ever inked. Before this, the biggest was the Citigroup deal last November.

Obviously there’s a premium price to be paid for a buffet like this, but I’m very curious to watch and hear what Dell does with it. The must have some pretty big plans underway if they’re investing this heavily. We’re sure to find out more in November as Michael Dell is a keynote at Dreamforce 08.
